House Special Committee on Economic Development, Trade & Tourism Chair Representative Jay Ramras, R-Fairbanks, listening to Laura Fox of Takotna talk about her short documentary today at the Capitol. Ms. Fox was one of the participants in the Rural Alaska Honors Institute’s Alaska Native Film Festival. Her submission was entitled “Takotna.” The films debuted today in a joint meeting with the Senate Special Committee on World Trade, Technology & Innovations and HEDT&T. RAHI, housed within the University of Alaska Fairbanks, was established in 1983 to prepare rural and Alaska Native high school students for academic excellence and college success, acting as a bridge program to help students adjust to life away from home.
