A Summary of News & Events from Alaska's State House for Wednesday - 01/25/12
H Floor Session: The following bills were introduced on the floor today: House Bill 294 by Rep. Bryce Edgmon was referred to Energy and Finance, HB 295 by Rep. Mike Hawker was referred to Resources, HB 296 by House Judiciary was referred to Judiciary and Finance, HB 297 by House Judiciary was referred to Labor & Commerce and Judiciary, HB 298 by Rep. Paul Seaton was referred to Resources and Finance, and, House Concurrent Resolution 20 by Rep. Peggy Wilson was referred to Health & Social Services.

H Education: House and Senate Education Committees met jointly to hear to a presentation from the Alaska Early Childhood Coordinating Council. House Bill 256 was scheduled but not heard.

H Judiciary: The committee met to review the Alaska Legislative Legal annual review of court decisions and opinions of the Attorney General construing Alaska Statutes. Chairman Carl Gatto narrowed the review to six specific cases and the members approved recommendations to forward four cases to affected Standing Committees.

H Resources: The committee heard and overview from Janus Methanol, Alaska Gasline Development Corp., and the Department of Revenue about the economics of gas to liquid conversion, production, and shipment in Alaska.

H Finance: House Finance heard an overview from the Department of Environmental Conservation and Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
