A Summary of News & Events from Alaska's State House for Monday - 03/12/12:
H Floor Session: The House passed HB 224, Sales of Nicotine Products to Minors, and HB 229, Big Game Commercial Services Board. The following bills were received from the Senate for consideration: SB 83, Teacher Board Certification Incentives, was referred to the Education and Finance Committees, SB 130, Alaska Native Language Council, was referred to the Finance Committee and SB 140, Cathinone Bath Salts, was referred to the Finance Committee.
H Education: The committee heard a presentation from the Southwest Region School District Superintendent David Piazza. Discussion of State Education Standards for Mathematics was brought up during part one of hearings related to HB 330, State Education Standards.
H Resources: HB 325, Coastal Management Program, and HB 276, Oil & Gas Production Tax Credits: Nenana, were heard and held for further review.
H Labor & Commerce: The committee heard and held HB 275, Retiree Benefits: Colorectal/Drug Benefits, while moving HB 337, Board of Architects, Engineers and Surveyors.
