A Summary of News & Events from Alaska's State House for Monday - 03/19/12:

H Floor Session: The House passed HB 250, Extending the Renewable Energy Grant Fund, HB 302, Repeal of the Pick-Click-Give Audit Requirement, HB 333, Public Office Expense Term Accounts, and HJR 26, Sea Otter Management. SB 202, Resuscitation Protocol Documents, and SCR 16, Celiac Disease Awareness Month, were received from the Senate for consideration.

H Education: The committee heard a presentation on the University of Alaska - Chuckchi and the Alaska Technical Center and discussed proposed language state education standards. HB 272, Student Loan Interest Reductions, was heard and held.

H Judiciary: HB 359, Sex Crimes; Testimony by Video Conference, moved from committee while SB 89, Legislative Ethics Act, was heard and held for further review.

H Resources: HB 360, Interstate Mining Compact & Commission, and HB 365, Aquatic Invasive Species, were heard and held.

H Finance: HB 245, Snow Classic, was moved from committee, while HB 258, Naturally Occurring Asbestos, was heard and held.

H Labor & Commerce: The committee heard a presentation from the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Student Investment Fund Managers. SB 125, Motor Vehicle Transactions, was heard and held.
