Posted: March 29, 2011 : v27-LS0722-A
Bill Version: CSHB 206(FIN)
Status: (S) FIN : 2011-04-11

In accordance with Title 24 and Title 44 of the Alaska Statutes, the Division of Legislative Audit has reviewed the activities of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board (ABC Board) to determine if there is a demonstrated public need for its continued existence.

The audit concluded that the ABC board should continue to regulate the manufacture, sale, barter, and possession of alcoholic beverages in Alaska in order to protect the publicís health, safety, and welfare. As the Board has demonstrated its continued need for existence, the audit recommended that the termination date of the Board be extended four years.

This legislation thus accommodates the audit recommendation by extending the termination date of the board to June 30, 2015.
